Preventing Workplace Harassment Among Workplace Participants (English Session)
The relevant anti-discrimination ordinances of Hong Kong were amended in 2020 and earlier this year to introduce enhanced protection from sexual, disability, racial, and breastfeeding harassment for workplace participants in common workplaces, even when there is no employment relationship.
In the University’s context, ‘workplace participants’ include HKU staff, contractors and their employees, interns, volunteers, and co-working space users, etc.
Similar to the concept of vicarious liability for an employer or principal, under the new legal provisions, a person who engaged interns or volunteers is vicariously liable for the harassment act of an intern or volunteer, whether or not the act was done with the knowledge or approval of that person.
You are cordially invited to join one of the training sessions detailed below. Please also ENCOURAGE YOUR CONTRACTORS, INTERNS, VOLUNTEERS, AND CO-WORKING SPACE USERS to join one of the sessions.
Topic: Preventing Workplace Harassment Among Workplace Participants
Trainer: Mr Clifford Lo, Senior Training Officer, Equal Opportunities Commission
Target Audience:
(1) Contractors and their employees;
