EOF 2018 - Our Insights on Building Socially Inclusive Campus
To promote a socially inclusive campus, we need to examine not only the differences but also the similarities among individuals from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds which seems to be lacking in existing ethnic minority studies. This talk aims to fill this void by introducing the project Jockey Club Lab for Cultural Diversity Study (Community Support). Dr. Paul Wong and Dr. Gizem Arat will share the preliminary findings of their project and to suggest recommendations on how to facilitate the promotion of socially inclusive campus for both local Chinese and non-Chinese speaking individuals, professionals, and students.
Dr. Paul Wai Ching Wong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the University of Hong Kong. His research interests are suicide prevention, positive youth development, mental health promotion, human-animal interactions, caregiving for people with disabilities, and social withdrawal youth. He is a Co-Principal Investigator of the Jockey Club Lab for Cultural Diversity Study.
Dr. Gizem Arat is a Post-doctoral fellow in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Hong Kong. Her research interests are the promotion of positive youth development among ethnic minorities and multiculturalism.
