Talk on "Why is the Race Discrimination Ordinance Not Good Enough?" by Dr. Margaret Ng
The Race Discrimination Ordinance was enacted in 2008 and is one the four major anti-discrimination ordinances in Hong Kong. It seeks to protect Hong Kong citizens from different forms of racial discrimination, but does it do its job well enough?
Dr. Margaret Ng seeks to answer this question in her talk, entitled “Why is the Race Discrimination Ordinance not good enough?”. You are cordially invited to attend the talk.

About the Speaker
Dr. Margaret Ng is the Chairperson of Hong Kong Unison. She is a barrister by profession. She was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1988 after receiving her law degree from the University of Cambridge and completing the PCLL at the University of Hong Kong. She also holds a doctorate in philosophy from Boston University.
Dr. Ng was a member of the Legislative Council between 1995 and 2012 and represented the Legal Functional Constituency. She also served in multiple public committees, including the Central Policy Unit and the Operation Review Committee of the ICAC.
Dr. Ng is also a noted commentator and writer in both English and Chinese and has served on the senior editorial staff of Ming Pao Daily News from 1986 – 1990. She is the author of more than a dozen Chinese titles. She continues to contribute to the media regularly.
