Pink Dot Reflection
2021 Pink Dot Hong Kong presented a free-for-all fun carnival and concert for LGBTQIA+ and their allies, families, friends, and colleagues in support of diversity and equality on October 31 as one of Hong Kong's largest LGBTQIA+ yearly events.
As a volunteer at the event, I've noticed that Pink Dot provides a platform for demonstrating harmony. People bring their friends, family, lovers, and even their proud identities! No matter who they are, they are all kind and accepting, and they seem to be having a good time. People may enjoy the carnival at G/F, and several corporations, like Bloomberg, JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, and others, have indicated their support for the event. There are business booths where attendees may play small games and learn more about workplace equality. It's also an opportunity for the public to learn about their company's diversity, equality, and inclusion activities. Visitors may attend a series of discussions, movie screenings, performances, and even face painting on the 6th floor. In addition, there are also some booths outside the auditorium, which are for homosexual mentorship, mindfulness trial, promotion of Gay Games Hong Kong, etc. Guests can find there are diverse aspects of the community, which enrich the content of the event. With all the activities, many of the guests are having their great time in Pink Dot.
It seems to me that the power of respect and inclusion is at work. People in this place treat each other with respect, regardless of color, gender, or sexual orientation. It's also an attitude I'd like to encourage in the workplace. It has come to corporate consciousness, i.e. the importance of creating a safe environment for their employees in the workplace. We can observe that numerous DEI projects are being implemented in the market: Bloomberg, Manulife held discussions, Goldman Sachs ran a mentoring program to help the LGBTQIA+ community, UBS held a screening for the film "Suk Suk," and so on. Many campaigns are available on the market with the purpose of promoting the growth of the LGBTQIA+ community. Ultimately, a friendly and inviting environment would be helpful to the company.
One of the issues I've been enthusiastic about is equality. I hope that in the future, LGBTQIA+ people will no longer be considered a minority and would instead be viewed by every body as normal.
