Brief Description:
This picture portrays a middle-aged Indian woman sitting on a bench in Kennedy Town harbour, Hong Kong. It was taken in December 2021 on a cold day after a storm. The woman wears gold bracelets and a traditional colourful Indian dress, a symbol of the cultural multiculturalism of Hong Kong. Minority groups and migrant workers are pivotal components of the Hong Kong population in terms of economic and socio-cultural values. Indeed, the hybrid identity of Hong Kong comes from a history of migration, a unique patchwork of different cultures, traditions and stories. The lady's hands face each other, and her back is straight as a line. She slowly breathes in and out in her meditation daily sessions. She started meditating to overcome the overwhelming rhythms of this cosmopolitan city and its lack of silence. However, she prefers to meditate in the city around people rather than in nature because she likes feeling like "a resilience seed in the middle of the desert".
