Equal Opportunity Website Banner Design Competition 2026


Objective

The Equal Opportunity Unit supports the University's commitment to fostering an inclusive culture and promoting equal opportunities for members of the University community. We are excited to announce the Equal Opportunity Website Banner Design Competition 2026, inviting all HKU students to create a website banner for display on the EOU homepage and communication platforms. This banner will promote awareness and action towards creating a barrier-free community.


Themes

The theme of this competition is Empowering Students through SEN Support. Students 
are invited to create a unique graphic design aligning with one of the following topics:

1. Join us in Building a Campus Free from Discrimination and Harassment

2. Breaking Barriers, Empowering Students

3. HKU, a Boundless Campus Where Everyone Thrives


Eligibility

All HKU students are welcome. Each applicant can only submit ONCE. 


Prizes

Champion

HK$3,000 gift coupon and a certificate

1st Runner-up

HK$2,000 gift coupon and a certificate

2nd Runner-up

HK$1,000 gift coupon and a certificate


Selected entries will be displayed at the Equal Opportunity Unit's homepage and social media platforms.

Each entry should include a title and a brief description in English. There are no restrictions on the design tools. Applicants are required to specify the tools utilised in their designs.

4. To avoid images or text from being cropped or placed too close to the edge, it is recommended to keep your design elements in a safe zone.

Terms & Conditions

(Participation in the competition constitutes the entrants' agreement to comply with and be bound by the terms and conditions below.)

  1. Entries cannot be altered or cancelled once submitted.

  2. Entries shall be the entrants' own original work produced with the use of design application that the entrants have legitimate authority to use without infringing any rights.

  3. No political, pornographic, violent, offensive, obscene, indecent or other illegal or inappropriate content is allowed in this competition. The Equal Opportunity Unit shall have absolute rights and powers to reject or disallow entries with any of such contents and disqualify the entrants from participating in the competition and/or receiving any awards without any notice.

  4. Entries must not have been submitted for any other competitions or provided to any other parties for publication.

  5. The Equal Opportunity Unit shall have all necessary rights to utilise the submitted entries for any purposes, including but not limited to the right and authority to modify, translate, edit, use, replicate, or distribute the contents of any of the entries in whole or in part in the future without prior notification or request.

  6. The winning entries will be featured on the homepage and social media platforms of the Equal Opportunity Unit for promotional purposes.

  7. Entrants agree to hold the Equal Opportunity Unit and the University harmless against all claims and liabilities arising out of the display, publication, and promotion or other use of the entries submitted.

  8. A panel of judges appointed by the Equal Opportunity Unit will conduct the assessment and evaluation for awarding prizes to selected entrants. The decision of the judging panel shall be final and binding.

  9. The Equal Opportunity Unit reserves all rights to amend the rules of the competition without prior notification. In case of any disputes, the Equal Opportunity Unit reserves the right of final decision which shall be binding.
