Reminder to All Staff

Professor Terry Au, Chair of the Equal Opportunity Committee, issued an email to remind all staff members about the University’s Equal Opportunity Policy and the established procedures to handle the related discrimination/harassment cases. In particular, all colleagues are advised to watch the Equal Opportunities Commission’s video on “What is sexual harassment?”. While the video mainly uses student activities as examples, the definition of sexual harassment that it explains applies to all the protected fields under the law, including employment and education. Teachers and supervisors are also advised to take note of the University’s “Guidelines Governing Relationships Between and Among University Staff and Students”. Similar reminders will be issued by the Equal Opportunity Unit to all staff regularly.
